July saw the loss of David Johnson as Catholic Schools Superintendent, our three-year leader of Catholic Schools in the Diocese of Cheyenne. On August 11, I received a letter from Bishop Etienne with the following encouragement and news,
“Catholic schools are a tremendous asset to the diocese, and I am firmly committed to the mission and success of each of our schools. In that regard, I have appointed Deacon Vernon Dobelman as Interim Superintendent of Catholic Schools for the academic year. Deacon Vernon has experience in Catholic schools as a teacher, principal, and Coordinator of Religious Education. His knowledge and experience will serve us well in this capacity.
Please be assured of my continued prayers and support. I am confident that the love of Christ will strengthen and encourage each of us as we strive to further His mission.”f
Deacon Vernon and I have met already on a couple of occasions, and I can tell you that I’m very excited to have him on board. He’s extremely faithful, prayerful and invested in Catholic education. Keep him in your prayers as he takes on this important responsibility!
